Slippery Elm Bark contains mucilage, a substance that becomes a slick gel when mixed with water or ingested. The mucilage coats and soothes the mouth, throat, stomach and intestines, making it a great supporting herb for sore throats, irritable bowel, diarrhea and  constipation. Also supporting digestion, diarrhea, ulcers and excess acidity in the GI tract because it causes reflux stimulation of the nerve endings and that reaction leads to increased mucus secretion. Also contains compounds called phenolics which are antioxidants and may reduce oxidative stress that contributes to aging and many chronic diseases and also help protect against pathogens due to their natural antifungal effects. 

 

Fennel Seed The roughage helps to clear the bowels, as the stimulating effect helps to support the proper peristaltic motion of the intestines, helping promote excretion. May also aid with abdominal pain, diarrhea, irritable bowels, and other intestinal and digestive issues.
